Legend of the Seeker News Round-up We’re down to the final four episodes of LEGEND OF THE SEEKER. First up thanks to LegendoftheSeeker.com we have 7 photos from this weekend’s new episode CURSED: Here is the promo for it: Also thanks to Sword-of-Truth.com here is the new log line for 01×20 SANCTUARY: Richard, Kahlan and Zedd race to find a duplicate copy of the Book of Counted Shadows before Darken Rahl gets his hands on it. Seeker has been renewed in 98% of it’s markets. Now is the time for fans to go ahead and drop their stations a note and let them know how much they enjoy the series and want to see it continue. We should get an official word on Season 2 from Disney within the next few weeks. Season 1 has wrapped w/ it’s filming. Craig Horner is back in LA and recently attended the DisneyNature film premiere for EARTH. He also chatted w/ the folks at Hulu about working on the series: Many of the scenes in the book are too graphic for TV. How have you guys worked around this? You know, it’s not necessary. We’re making a different show. If we were making Wizard’s First Rule, then we’d probably have to go to all that graphic stuff, which wouldn’t be allowed on TV. So I think the fact that now we’ve just fully accepted that we’re making our own show based on the Sword of Truth series, we don’t need that stuff. I think it works better in books. You don’t want to go to those dark places every day in your [living room] with your family. You just want to read them and think about them and let them have an effect on you. But you know, it wouldn’t work on a family show. We did an episode like “Denna,” which is — gosh, in the book, the torture is long and there’s a lot more sex involved, but I didn’t care if we got to do that or not. I just wanted to go through this journey of a defiant man who was basically just tortured and has to put his dignity away in a little room, lock it away with a key, and just get through this situation and be this woman’s slave so he can just get through and survive. That’s all it was about. When I read that part of the book, I didn’t go “Aw gee, I really hope we get to go on and do all those horrible things which I won’t name.” Instead, it was “Gee I really hope I get to do that journey as an actor, that’s really cool” and I did. Also Rob Tapert recently sat down with the Torch Online (click on link to read full article) and talked about the sensual aspect of the series: TheTorchOnline: One of the things that’s really struck me about the Legend of the Seeker is how sexy it is, what with Bridget and Craig and Mistress Denna — how you’ve made fantasy a little more “adult” and sophisticated. Is that intentional? Rob Tapert: The intention is always to try and make something sexy. The original source material, the Terry Goodkind’s books, they were in and of themselves very sexy, and they actually went much further in various sexual proclivities than we’re able to do on a syndicated show, so the original source material had that in it, and I think part of that was the original appeal to my partners, Josh Donen and Sam Raimi on this who both read the book and it was kind of Sam who said, “I’d love to take this material and, you know, make this our return to television.” Then, of course, you get lucky in casting. Craig [Horner] and Bridget [Regan] were able to bring this to life wonderfully and, although you wouldn’t know it yet, as the season goes on, from where we are now, it actually gets better and kind of more sexy. TTO: It’s one thing to read about Mistress Deena’s skintight leather; it’s another thing to actually see it. Are you ever pressured to tone it down or do you film two scenes, one for the airing and one for the DVD? RT: We don’t have time to do two versions. It is the epitome of fast turnaround television. ABC Disney is a partner on this, they have slightly different standards than when we were doing Hercules and Xena, but that said, their standards and practice board has been by most standards and practices, incredibly easy to work with and very liberal in what they will allow us to portray on TV, so oddly enough, they have never really come and said you can’t sexually show something. Oddly enough, their concerns have been more about hero protection, oh, he shouldn’t run some guy through a second time or something like that. So really, I think that considering what you could run up against at a network, and working with Disney who has a brand, this has been something that we’ve been fortunate that everybody involved has allowed us to push the boundaries and continue to push them. Hijinks Abound in LEGEND OF THE SEEKER’s MIRROR Hijinks Abound in LEGEND OF THE SEEKER’s MIRROR By Erika Blake Admin Multipleverses.com This is the first episode that I would flat out call filler for the season. The only thing that happened in MIRROR to move the story along was that it reunited Richard and Kahlan with Zedd. Beyond that the episode didn’t deal w/ our heroes quest to figure out how to take out Darken Rahl, in fact we rarely saw them in the episode at all, even though we did get to see plenty of Craig and Bridget. That being said, this episode was hilarious and if you’re going to let your brain take a vacation from the usual Richard/Kahlan angst that we’ve been given over the recent months, at least this go around we got some wonderful eye...
